Each skill chain is compsoed of 5 related skills that must be purchased in order. To accquire the 5th skill in a chain you must first purchase skills 1 through 4, however you can spend your Megaten money in different chains freely. The result is that you get a grat deal of control over how your character develops as he levels up.
